ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Sealed Bids for the General Contract for chiller plant upgrades at the Westfield Middle and Intermediate Schools will be received by the City of Westfield at City of Westfield, Purchasing Department, 59 Court Street, Westfield, Massachusetts 01085 until 2:00 PM, prevailing time, June 16, 2022, and at that time and place will then be publicly opened and read aloud at City Hall. Exact room number is to be determined. Sealed Bids must have outer envelope marked as “City of Westfield Middle and Intermediate Schools Project, Bid No. 22-049.”  

The Project consists of, but not limited to the following: Renovations, rebuilding and upgrades to the existing chiller units serving each school.  

It is the intent of the Awarding Authority that the Mechanical Contractor shall serve as the general contractor for all aspects of the project.    

Drawings and Specifications will be available for viewing at the office of the Purchasing Director, 59 Court Street, Westfield, Massachusetts on May 25, 2022 at 9:00 AM. 

Wage rates for this Project are subject to minimum wage rates as per M.G.L., Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27H inclusive.  

The bidding and award of the Contract shall be in full compliance with Chapter 149, Sections 44A-44J of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as last revised.

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all Bids if deemed to be in their best interest.

Qualifications: In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 149, Section 44D, General Bids will be valid only when accompanied by (1) a current certificate of eligibility issued by Division of Capital Assets Management and Maintenance, showing that the General Bidder has the classification of “Mechanical Contractor” and a capacity to perform this work and (2) an update statement summarizing the General Bidder’s record for the period between the latest Division of Capital Assets Management and Maintenance certification and the date the bid is submitted.

Miscellaneous: A voluntary pre-bid meeting will be held at 3:00 PM, on June 7, 2022, starting the Westfield Middle School at 30 West Silver Street, Westfield, MA outside the main entrance. The pre-bid meeting will continue to the Westfield Intermediate School at 350 Southampton Road, Westfield, MA.
